“…in today society it is nearly impossible to survive without some sort of extra income.” I don’t remember exactly where I heard this statement but it really is the truth. Think about this back in the 1960’s the average American house hold income was 36000 a year. This was enough to have a nice house people where able to save enough to pay for things like cars and collage for their kids without having to go into debit to do it the need for extra income wasn’t there. Now here we are in the 2000’s and do you know that the average house hold income is only about 41000 a year. Yes it is an increase but when you compare it to the how much the cost of living has increased its easy to see why we need to find that extra income. The truth is that we would need to be making around 212,000 a year and that just enough to have kept pace with the cost of living increases. Let not think about what it be like ten years from now. I don’t know about you but even if I where to reach the highest levels in my chosen profession I still would not be any where close to that amount. I had to find away to add some extra income.

So we know that we need the extra income but how do go about getting it. What get a second job work double the hours that I was working before and completely kill what ever life I had outside of work well it a choice but are we not trying to improve our life not take it away. So what next ok I’ll save a little money each month and over time that will increase into that extra income that I have been look for shouldn’t take long. Lets say I can put away 500 a month into a savings account and I want to know how long it will take till I am making 1000 back a month in interest. Well at the average rate the way they are right now it would only take about 20 years. That sounds great after scraping by for twenty years taking no vacations, driving the same car I was back then, I can finally keep working my job and I will have the extra income that I was looking for twenty years ago. I don’t know about you but that doesn’t sound that good of a deal to me.

Now don’t get me wrong having savings accounts, bonds, IRA’s are great ways to invest your money but what I’m talking about is having that extra income to put that extra 500 a month away, to be able to pay off your car loans, to finally completely pay off your credit cards, to be able to take the vacations that you have always wanted to or whatever the reason that motivate you to get the extra income that we all need in our lives.
